Married 50 years John and his wife, Teri, live in Mount Juliet, and are parents of two daughters.  Has led religious education and marriage enrichment programs at the parish and diocesan level for many years.   John has a Master’s Degree in Theology and a Master’s Degree in Counseling.  For 13 years he served three parishes in Kansas as a marriage and family therapist.  From 1987 to 2011 he worked for two large corporations (Cummings Engine Co., and Caterpillar Financial Services Corp.) as International Human Resources manager.

While working in the corporate world John continued his interest in marriage and family life. In 2008 published his first book: Happy Together, the Catholic Blueprint for a Loving Marriage, followed by Blessed is Marriage, in 2010, and in 2014 Joined by Grace, a marriage preparation program that he co-authored with his wife for Ave Maria Press.  At the same time, together with his wife, Teri, John developed three marriage enrichment programs widely used in parishes across the USA and in other English-speaking countries; SIX DATES for Catholic Couples, The Beatitudes, and The Virtues. In 2019 they published: Six Jars of Love, Loving Attitudes to Help Married Couples Reconnect. For the past 10 years John has contributed a monthly column on marriage to diocesan publications. The column has been recognized multiple times with awards from the Catholic Press Association.

In the fall 2022 John published Raising a Catholic Family: Building a Domestic Church – a handbook for parents. The book was awarded 2^nd place at the annual book awards of the Catholic Media Association in June 2023.
